As a woman, you have certain rights. Rights about how you what to live your life, the choices you make, and the actions you take.  It is your responsibility to own these rights and to exercise them as a woman. Take charge of your life and never apologize for who you are. I’ve put together a short list of things that you have the right do to as a woman. Read them, cherish them, share them. Please feel free to comment and add more rights that are important to you or that I may have left out.

You Have The Right To Remain Single

I’m a southern girl, and if you are too, then you know that if you are not married with two kids by the time you are 30 people start assuming something is “wrong” with you or that you are wild and flaky. You are plagued with that dreaded question, “why are you still single?” to which you have an almost seemingly automated response by now. You say it’s because you haven’t found the right one, or because you are focused on your career and you don’t have time, but what you really want to scream is, “because I want to be!!!” that would shut your critics up for sure. I’m here to tell you, there is nothing wrong with being single. Your relationship/marital status no more defines you than the color of your skin. You have the right to remain single, don’t ever let anyone make you feel pressured to be in a relationship, married, or have kids. Own your right.

You Have The Right To Control Your Own Sex Life

At the end of the day you are the one who has to be comfortable in your own skin, you are the one who has to look yourself in the mirror, you are the one who has to live with your choices-not them. If you decided to be celibate until marriage, that’s your choice, your right, your business. If you want to have casual sex with multiple men this DOES NOT mean you have low self esteem, are automatically imply you were sexually abused as a young girl-please. Most women who enjoy sex, and with multiple partners are quite secure in their own skin and love themselves very much, they just enjoy having sex, and that’s their right. Always be safe, be informed, and be yourself. It’s your sex life, it’s your right.

You Have The Right To Love Your Flaws

As women we can sometimes be more critical of each other when what we should be doing is encouraging and lifting each other up. There’s been countless times that I’ve been in a group of women and they’ve (myself included) pointed out flaws in other women around us. Her hair, or the way she wore her dress, the shoes that didn’t match, the extra weight around her belly- and even giggled about it. Truth is, we’ve all got flaws, imperfections. Some are visible, and some are not so visible. Change and self improvement are both essential in life but the first step is to embrace and love who you are today, flaws and all. I’m full of flaws, and far from perfect, but I own my right to LOVE my flaws-and I’m a better woman for it.

You Have The Right To Have The Relationship Of Your Dreams

That’s right, the relationship of your dreams-never thought of what that is? Get a pen and paper and right now write down what you envision your perfect relationship being like. What does your dream man look like? Does he make you laugh? Is he a great father? Is he the life of the party? Does he treat you like his most prized possession? Write it all down and then know that it is your right to have it. Never settle or sell yourself short.

You Have The Right To Inspire Others

You have the right to be an inspiration-so be one! You were given gifts, some in the form of hardships in your life that you are meant to share with others. No matter how small or insignificant you may think it is or how small of a contribution you think it may be just do it anyway. If you affect and inspire only one person you have already made the world a better place. I encourage you to search yourself for those gifts and what you are passionate about and begin to share it. Your soul will love you for it I promise!
